Paint by Row

When a new fabric collection is getting close to release we download the images and start plugging the fabrics into quilt designs. Never before have we downloaded a collection where we came up with so many beautiful quilts! Painter's Palette by J. Wecker Frisch for Riley Blake Designs is truly a palette of fabric every quilter needs.

In Paint by Row we used Rolie Polie strips and yardage to make this fun take on the old Hatchet Block. As a beginner level pattern, it comes together quickly and easily. Using Janet's classic antique paint tin fabric for the border ties all the colors together.

Here's what we used:

1 -RP8940 Multi Rolie Polie 1.75 yards -C8944 charcoal texture (background, inner border, binding) 1.25 yards -C8946 painters palette (border, this is directional fabric so you need 2.25 yards if you want all sides of the border going in the same direction) 1 yard -RBD Basic Shades WB200 snow (background)

You might recognize that paint tin design. We've sewn over 1,500 items with it since it's original release a few years back. It's an Aunt Henri staple and we shed more than a few tears when we used the last yards we had. In fact, you might say we 'pestered ' this re-release into existence. As in, we might have asked Janet a couple times a week for two years to bring it back. Possibly. That might have happened. (It's a wonder she still takes our calls.)

Paint By Row is available as a digital download.

Here's a peek at some other quilt patterns we are working on:

Bingo!

Did you notice the bingo number prints? Here's a fun way to incorporate numbers and dates that are special to the quilt recipient.

Pattern coming soon!

The Star of St. Louis: another Rolie Polie or 10" stacker friendly pattern. We adore the cascading color!

Ode to Van Gogh: Pull the yellows, green, and black out of the line to make giant sunflowers!

Yule Tide: Haul out the holly and berry colors for a festive Christmas quilt! Isn't this jolly?

We could do this all day but boy, do we have a lot of sewing to do. If we had to come up with one word for this collection, it would be 'versatile.' Whether using all the colors with pre-cuts or just buying yardage of your favorite colors, you can make so many projects! Feeling inspired yet?

Happy Sewing,

-AH
