Saddle Up & Sew!

Updated: May 30, 2024

On the blog today, we have our last project with National Parks by Anderson Design Group for Riley Blake Designs. We can't tell you how much fun we've had with this line!

Doesn't this collection make you want to pack up and go out on an adventure? We especially love the nostalgic feel and vintage inspired poster art. We decided it was the perfect line to release our new pattern: Aunt Henri's Saddle Bag. Inspired by a favorite purse of ours from the 70's, this saddle bag is simple to sew and super easy to customize.

When it comes to bag making, pairing quilting cotton with colored vinyl is an Aunt Henri staple. Vinyl makes the bag more durable and balances out the multiple prints we use. Plus--it just looks sharp, doesn't it?

We used three prints in this bag: mini posters, signs and patches.

If you've never done an inset zipper pocket, here's your chance to learn how!

For the lining, we used Riley Blake Shades in the color Sand.

Here's a different look with a vinyl flap instead of a print and with a metal lock clasp.

Doesn't this make a perfect traveling trio?
